WWE News: AJ Lee Announces New Match for SummerSlam Card

It looks like the already-packed SummerSlam card has just gotten one more match added to it.

Over at her official Twitter account, new Raw general manager AJ Lee has announced that The Miz will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Earlier this evening, the star, who has been in charge of WWE's flagship show for almost three weeks now, posted:

As Raw GM, I've decided at #Summerslam this Sunday, @Mikethemiz will defend his Intercontinental title vs @reymysterio .How awesome is that?

"

On paper, the match makes a great deal of sense. After all, the recently-returned Mysterio cleanly defeated the champion in a singles bout last week on SmackDown, clearly positioning for a shot at the belt.

Mysterio said as much himself in a post-match interview for popular WWE YouTube show Backstage Fallout, noting that winning the prestigious IC title was now high on his priority.

Miz/Rey should also be highly entertaining from an in-ring perspective. As the SD match illustrated, the two men have great in-ring chemistry, with their contrasting styles (Mysterio is a high-flyer; Miz is more of a ground guy) playing off nicely against each other.  

Presumably we'll get a follow-up to this announcement on tonight's edition of Raw, with the heelish The Miz no doubt having something to say about it.
