WWE SummerSlam 2012: Daniel Bryan Has a Golden Opportunity to Shine Against Kane

Jun 2, 2018

When Daniel Bryan squares off with Kane at SummerSlam on Sunday, Aug. 19, the WWE will have the chance to allow Bryan to shine on the second-biggest stage of the year.

Now is the time for the company to let Bryan win this match in convincing fashion and send a message to the entire WWE Universe; D-Bry is still a viable World title contender.

Bryan has looked amazing in his matches over the last few months, but his lack of success is starting to damage his character. He needs to win against a star like Kane—who can afford the loss—in order to prove that he can beat bigger competition on a huge stage like SummerSlam.

A marquee win like that would go a long way in convincing the WWE Universe that Bryan is a legitimate main-event star.

There is no doubt that Bryan is the best pure technical wrestler in the entire company, but the process of acclimating him to the WWE style on the mic and in his mannerisms has been a long and arduous process.

To WWE and Bryan’s credit, they have stuck to the plan and ran with everything that the crowd has given them. Just over a year ago, D-Bry was a WWE afterthought. Now he could slip into a World title match.

Now it’s time for the kid that amazed in Ring of Honor just a few years ago to avenge his loss at WrestleMania 28 and beat down Kane.

The WWE must turn Bryan crazy; all it would take is a final appearance by general manager AJ Lee to complete the puzzle.

If AJ makes the SummerSlam match between Bryan and Kane some sort of No Disqualifications Match, Bryan will have the chance to take a step into the upper echelon of main-event heels by allowing him to put on one of the most physically intense matches of the night.

WWE wouldn’t be able to afford keeping him out of a World title picture.

With Bryan’s ability to sell a hardcore match and Kane’s ability to make any star look even better than they already did, Kane and D-Bry would put on a show that the fans in attendance and viewing on pay-per-view would never forget.

If Bryan goes over, prepare for huge things from the WWE’s biggest wild card.
