Edwar Ramirez Will Sit Out the Next Couple Of Days
Edwar Ramirez will be sidelined for a minimum of three days. His MRI revealed that he has mild bursitis, but its not very serious. He doesnโt plan on pitching again until the weekend. This isnโt something you like to hear, but it could have been a lot worse.
Girardi: โHeโs going to be down for a few days,โ Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. โThe hope is to get him back on the mound shortly. Weโre not considering it to be a long time, and flat ground would be the first thing that he would do. Weโre hoping to maybe do that this week.โ
Ramirez: โItโs not something bad,โ Ramirez said. โIโve got about four or five days without throwing, medicine, and Iโll be ready next week. I have time.โ
Here are the Yankees pitchers who will take part in the first two games of the spring...
(Wednesday) Toronto: Brett Tomko followed by Kei Igawa, Christian Garcia, Mike Dunn, Dave Robertson, Dan Giese and Jose Veras.
(Thursday) Tampa Bay: Phil Hughes followed by Phil Coke, Brian Bruney, Damaso Marte, Jon Albaladejo, Mark Melancon.
Derek Jeter says he plans on playing in four gamesbefore he joins the U.S. WBC team. He will start tomorrow in the spring opener. Jeter has recovered from his right hamstring soreness, as he was sprinting in the outfield today and he took part in base running drills.
