WWE News: New Photo Emerges of Unmasked Rey Myseterio

Yes, we have seen Mysterio unmasked, but that was almost 15 years ago.

Keep in mind, as long as Mysterio has been in the WWE, he has been billed as a masked wrestler. In fact, several stars have attempted to unmask the high-flyer on multiple occasions and have failed.

Now, a new picture from Japan has surfaced on the web with several WWE stars including Mysterio.

WrestkeZone.com landed the picture and it can be viewed (here). And, believe it or not, Mysterio is just like you or me and has aged quite bit.  Ultimately, the former World champion is 37 years old and has essentially done it all in wrestling.

Overall, I understand the difference between real and kayfabe, however, I would think Rey would have a spare mask on hand for moments like this. I get it, when he is out of the ring, with friends and family, there is no need to be wearing the mask.

Although, if the WWE is looking to keep the mystique of the Lucha tradition alive, you would think they would have a clause in his contract stating that he can't take fan pictures without the mask. This may sound a bit extreme, but you gotta remember at one time heels and faces could not be seen in public together in order to keep the storylines going.

I know the world and wrestling climate in general has changed. However, it always surprises me when stuff like this surfaces. You may remember earlier this year, an unmasked Kane was rehearsing a press conference run in with John Cena.

Even then, I was a bit surprised that Kane would be allowed to be involved in an open rehersal without the mask.

In the end, this is much ado about nothing, I just wanted to let fans see Mysterio unmasked in 2012.
