WWE to Debut Saturday Morning Slam Kids Show After SummerSlam

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 6, 2018

WWE is about to add another 30 minutes to their already packed weekly set of shows, but this show will not be all about in-ring action like Raw and SmackDown.

WWE Saturday Morning Slam will debut on the CW network in two weeks, according to an article published by the LA Times.

The show will feature one match as well as backstage segments and messages from the BA Star anti-bullying campaign, along with other various features to be added in the weeks to come.

According to the article referenced earlier, WWE's viewing audience is 22 percent children, mainly boys under the age of 12.

This will be a part of a new block of shows the CW is putting on Saturday's schedule and WWE Saturday Morning Slam will be the anchor.

Whether the match will be one from Raw or SmackDown or a match taped exclusively for the show is unclear at this point.

This show comes right on the heels of WWE extending Raw to three hours and re-branding NXT and SummerSlam, which is right around the corner.

As a former child fan turned adult fan, I think this is a good idea by WWE. Saturdays used to be the day for wrestling when I was a kid and now there are no shows airing exclusively on this day.

Gearing a show towards kids should come as no shock as WWE has been trying to increase its underage viewing audience ever since going to a TV-PG format.

The exact setup for the show has not been revealed, but chances are good that one of WWE's resident non-wrestling personalities will serve as some kind of host.

This could also give WWE a chance to showcase some segments from their YouTube channel to try and gain an even bigger following on the video sharing website.

The one thing you have to respect about a company like WWE is that they are always exploring new ventures and taking risks with what they choose to invest their time in.

Some of those risks have seen them fail miserably while others have made the company ridiculous sums of cash.

Hopefully this gives WWE a chance to test the waters on various ideas they have for the WWE network, which seems to have been in a state of limbo for quite some time.

What do you think of a WWE show for kids? Will you let your kids watch it?
