Why Albert Haynesworth to the Redskins is Crazy Enough To Work

Jarrett CarterFeb 24, 2009

If it's true that the Washington Redskins are pursuing Albert Haynesworth, there’s reason to assume that this will be one of the free agent signings that works out well in the long term for the Redskins. Because we all know that doesn’t happen too often.

If you haven’t seen Haynesworth, you haven’t seen one of the dominant defensive forces in the entire league, if not the most dominant. I’m talking about “check this joker for steroids” dominant. With the solid linebacking corp that the Redskins field, having a defensive lineman like Albert Haynesworth blocking running lanes is sure to turn somebody into a Pro Bowler.

Somebody like London Fletcher.

And with so much attention focused up the middle, maybe the defensive ends can finally get more push from the edge. You know, Andre Carter and Jason Taylor? The guys who have been slowed by injury and low body mass? Yeah, those guys.

If the Redskins pull this off, I’ll be the first one to congratulate them. It will make for pleasurable highlights on the flat screens in Dan Snyder’s new Six Flags Barber Shop.
