WWE News: Update on Plans for John Cena, The Rock and CM Punk at WrestleMania 29
After The Rock returned to WWE at Raw's 1,000th episode and sensationally announced that he would be facing the WWE Champion in a match at next year's Royal Rumble pay-per-view, it immediately threw up numerous questions.
Who would be the WWE Champion at that point? Current title-holder CM Punk, John Cena or someone else? Would The Rock win at the Royal Rumble? Would he face John Cena at WrestleMania again? Or embark on a fresh program with Punk?
In this week's (subscribers-only) F4W Newsletter, Bryan Alvarez reports on this matter, giving an update on the current talk in WWE regarding The Rock, John Cena and CM Punk. Alvarez notes that these discussions are still early, but the indications are that The Rock's next major feud will be with either Punk or his old foe Cena.

"There is at least some discussion, which will no doubt change countless times, of taking the title off CM Punk, doing Rock vs. Cena for the title at Royal Rumble, and then Punk vs. Rock for the title at WrestleMania.
"
Interestingly, the recently turned Punk has been extremely vocal of his dislike for the Hollywood actor on recent episodes of WWE's flagship show, calling him "deranged" and trashing his over-reliance on scripted promos. This is possibly the company planting the seeds of a potential angle.
A rematch against Cena at WrestleMania 29 is also an intriguing prospect, especially considering the massive business the first WM match between the pair did.
Certainly, if faced with the choice of putting Rock with Cena or Rock with Punk, WWE management may be mindful of WM 28's huge buy rate and elect to go with Cena for the bout, likely feeling he is a safer, more established choice that will reap them another big PPV number.
