WWE: Looking to UFC and Wrestling's Past to Expose Kevin Nash's Ignorance

Andy SoucekJun 2, 2018

For a man with a supposed IQ of 161, Kevin Nash seems to know little about pro wrestling.

Nash is simply wrong about what makes a star in wrestling.

His genius intellect should surely know the history of the business, right?

Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Gorgeous George, Bruno Sammartino, Sting and Ric Flair are all legendary wrestlers who were under 6’2”.

You don’t need to just look at wrestling, though, to know that size doesn’t equal money.

In a Grantland interview, Nash made a comparison between the heights of wrestlers, to the size of a man’s um…manhood in a porno to make his point about size.

What he should have done is compared the size of men in a simulated combat sport vs. the size of men in an actual combat sport.

It seems a little more relevant anyway.

Quick, name the heavyweight champion of boxing. I’ll wait here while you look it up on Wikipedia (as I will have to as well…).

Oh, it’s Wladimir Klitschko.

Never heard of him.

Now admittedly, I don’t follow boxing. But I could tell you who the sport’s top draw is.

Does Nash know?

It’s Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Oh yeah, and he’s only 5’8”.

Klitschko is 6'6".

Nash’s logic is falling apart.

It doesn’t matter if people turn their heads to watch you in an airport, it matters if they’ll pay money to buy a ticket and watch you wrestle.

How about UFC?

Rashad Evans and Georges St-Pierre are two of the biggest stars in UFC. They are main-eventers raking in millions of dollars per fight. They’re undersized, but explosive inside of the cage.

People don’t care about a fighter’s size, they just want an exciting fight.

Jones vs. Evans at UFC 145 drew an estimated 700,000 buys.

Dana White says GSP is the company’s top star.

If size was what mattered, then why isn’t Tensai over? Why did Kurrgan, Nathan Jones and The Great Khali never make big money?

Nash could just be trying to work everyone, but I’d argue against that.

For one, he’s made these claims for years, what big feuds did he ever get out of it? And two, Nash is known to loosen up a bit and speak his mind while drinking his wine.

Was he trying to work the Internet while drunk, or was he speaking what he believes to be the truth?

Does he really expect to work up the fans enough that WWE will bring him in so he can feud with Daniel Bryan over comments he made in an article?

I thought he was a genius?

In today’s society, Nash needs to realize that size doesn’t really mean that much.

Whether it’s boxing, UFC, wrestling or movies, people just want to be entertained.

Maybe Nash should stick to the movies and stay out of wrestling, the medium has passed him by.

Better yet, maybe he should watch a few and see how much size matters.

"The Expendables 2" is coming out soon, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Jason Statham are major action stars in the film, and oh yeah, they’re all under 5’11".

Does that make them vanilla midgets?
