Motives Behind The Legend Killer

He's ruthless, troubled, fearless and unforgiving. He's a former world champ and he was pared with legends of this business, present and past.

He has recently developed a mean streak; he's known as the Legend Killer.

No, I'm not talking about Randy Orton. There's a new Legend Killer and he goes by the name of Chris Jericho.

Rumored to fight Mickey Rourke at Wrestlemania 25, Jericho needed something to bide his time until the Oscar bids came to an end, so he chose to attacks legends.

He started by getting into it with Hall of Famer Ric Flair. He followed that up with a spat with the legendary Scotsman, Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Is Jericho really trying to steal Orton's monkier "Legend Killer"? Absolutely not. But there is a motive behind the actions.

Jericho has been verbally abusing Legends on a weekly basis, all in a build up to that special date in March. And no, it's not Wrestlemania.

On March 24, 2009, the WWE will debut it's newest wrestling series, Legends of Wrestlemania. And in anticipation of it's release, the WWE is trying to walk fans down memory lane by bringing out the legends one by one.

This could ultimately result in a lumberjack match, Jericho vs Rourke with the Legends as the lumberjacks or possibly making a run in to save Rourke.

But this move is not only to sell PPV buys, but also to sell video games. They won't necessarily use the legends at Wrestlemania, but they will play a huge role in hyping the event.

The legends will already be in attendance for the Hall of Fame the night before, so it's an easy sell. Look for the Legend Killer to continue his reign of disrespect all the way to the release of Legends of Wrestlemania.
