Yankees' Facebook First of Many to Be Hacked, Jeter Still Not Getting Sex Change

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

There is a scourge threatening to take over the whole of Major League Baseball. Well, at least the Facebook pages of each MLB team, that is.

Deadspin reports a couple of MLB teams have had their Facebook pages hacked, delivering some hilarious—and not so hilarious—results.

Update: Friday, August 3rd, 4:20 p.m. ET

New York Yankees v. Chicago Cubs

Per a Facebook spokesperson:

"

Recently, several Pages made unauthorized posts as a result of actions from a single rogue administrator of these Pages. Our team responded quickly and worked with our partners to eliminate the spam caused by this attack. This was an unique, isolated incident and we are always working to improve our systems to better protect our users and their data.

"

----end of update.

First came word that Derek Jeter would miss the rest of the season for a bizarre reason that even the most gullible baseball fan would have to question.

See for yourself and tell me if you see anything amiss.

That's a screen capture taken by Deadspin, as the post has since been deleted. I knew it was fake the minute it said stronger than ever in 2013. I mean, the shortstop is far too close to 40 to have a resurgence like that.

The second club to be hit was the Chicago Cubs, as if they haven't had enough heartache this season already.

The rest of the images are all screen captures taken by Deadspin, who I imagine is now in full Facebook police mode.

The Miami Marlins get in on the pit bull craze, not to be confused with the Pitbull craze. Wait, isn't that guy in Alaska

For those three Expos fans still holding on to belief, there is even a hack for you, too.

The best part is the fans who are obviously bewildered. Hey, why are guys going when we just got good?

The Giants, White Sox and Padres were also hit, and I would expect to see more Facebook hacks before the day is out.

Someone out there is actually drawing attention to MLB Facebook pages. The popularity should wane within the hour.

However, we are thankful to report that, as far as we know, Derek Jeter will not miss the rest of the season with a sex-change operation.
