Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Gaston Ramirez Would Be Major Score for Reds
The Liverpool Reds are reportedly in talks with the agent of Uruguayan stud Gaston Ramirez, who plays for Bologna. Landing him would make the team's rebuilding process go a lot smoother, and it's a deal they have to make.
According to Metro.co.uk's Jamie Sanderson:
"...it appears that Liverpool, who held initial talks over a deal with Bologna last month, have jumped the queue, with the players agent arriving in England this week to sort out a transfer to the Premier League.
"
Ramirez, at the age of 21, is one of the best young wingers in Italy, and he's ready to make a move to the Premier League.
He has already made an impact on Uruguay's Olympic run, scoring one of his team's two goals in their victory over the United Arab Emirates.
During his time with Bologna, Ramirez showed elite-level speed and agility, and his ability to dribble in traffic will be invaluable to new head coach Brendan Rodgers' possession-based offense.
He played behind the striker most of the time for Bologna, yet Ramirez has the ability to score from that spot, as his eight goals last season prove.
Ramirez would be an instant upgrade over Stewart Downing and Steven Gerrard, though it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see them all take the field at the same time.
Ramirez is a player the Reds must land this summer. His addition would significantly bolster the team's overall width, and they would be much more talented on the offensive end. He's no slouch on defense, either, though his talents are far better suited to having the ball on offense.
