Brother vs. Brother at Wrestlemania 25: When Will the WWE Make It Interesting?

Joe Burgett Feb 20, 2009

For about four months, we have been seeing a setup to see Jeff Hardy go against his attacker at Wrestlemania 25. Many of us believed Christian Cage was behind it, but it was changed. Now we know Matt Hardy was behind everything.

The problem with this feud is that it has not gone anywhere. After the WWE had Matt Hardy betray Jeff Hardy by hitting him with a steel chair, costing him the WWE Title, they have not done a thing.

We saw both Hardys come out and talk a bit, where neither came out to address the other. Of course, I knew Jeff Hardy would not win the WWE Title back at No Way Out to set up the brother vs. brother match at Wrestlemania.

But seriously, where are they going with this? I mean yes, we saw both saying they are going to move on. But come on, neither showing up with the other was talking? It is easy to see why we have not seen anything.

Quite frankly, they had nothing for the feud. It was all made for Christian Cage. Now that Michael Hayes (SmackDown head writer) and Vince McMahon changed the plans, there is nothing for Matt to do.

Sure they made up a little segment with Matt in the ring with music behind him while he was talking. And they had Hurricane Helms come out and try to avenge Jeff. But that is it.

We just saw Jeff back last week, and Matt was not even there. That would have been the perfect time to use a run-in or something. Help set up something for them in the future.

Now we may see something tonight. I'm not sure yet, only because I don't look at the spoilers. Nor do I want any one of you to post them here.

But the problem is that it would be great to see Matt vs. Jeff at Mania. Only the WWE killed the Cage return to put him on ECW, but forgot that they had a four-month storyline going with him.

Now they had to change it up, and they couldn't do it. Sure now they may now have something, but come on. Jeff couldn't have gotten attacked at No Way Out by Matt to show he really was the attacker.

Heck, the week before Jeff came back, Matt said "I hope nothing bad happens to Jeff before he comes to SmackDown next week" Probably not those exact words, but similar.

They could have used that as something to use. But NO, instead they did not have anything for the past week for either Hardy. All we saw was another Edge win at No Way Out.

Sure Jeff pinned him int he first Chamber match, but still. There is nothing good going on here with the Hardys. All we saw was Jeff losing. Which sets him up for being in the brother vs. brother at Mania.

But still when there is no real feud going in, then what are we seeing. Before we saw a nice set-up. And then we were shocked to see Matt hitting Jeff with a steel chair, costing him the WWE Title. But it ended there.

So you killed the best storyline going into 2009? Why? It had the makings of the best wrestling feud of the year. How stupid to you have to be WWE?

It does not take a genius to me. No wonder why B/R Writer Ray gets a good response on his "I can write a better series than the WWE" articles. Anyone can now. Who is writing this WWE?

You have arguably the best two guys on SmackDown to use. Both are young and athletic with a ton of fan power. And you go nowhere with the feud.

If we do see a brother vs. brother for 'Mania it would be the latest true brother vs. brother since Owen vs Bret.

I know we saw Undertaker vs. Kane since then. But as most of you know, they are not real brothers. The Hardys are.

I do not think we will see a great technical match here with them. But they could do another match like Shane and Randy Orton's match at No Way Out. No rules.

An I Quit match is a good idea to me. Having one say that would be great for Wrestlemania 25. There is no rules really in that match, so why not. Maybe we could see a ladder involved.

It would give the fans a treat with that idea of a hardcore type match. That way weapons could be used. We won't see a TLC match, only because of the Money in the Bank Ladder match we see every year there.

I know the WWE would not schedule two ladder matches in the same night. Now we have never seen a Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania I believe. So that would be good to me.

However if we see a Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker match, I would want to see them in that match instead of the Hardys. But that is neither here nor there.

I want to see a great set-up for this match. You have over a month to do it. Just in a few weeks we could be into it. But we will have to see what the WWE does here.

In any case, at least the Hardys' parents now know how the Mannings' parents feel.
