Eduardo Out for Two Weeks: Arsenal Have To Give Carlos Vela a Run

Callum D'SouzaFeb 20, 2009

After a courageous comeback match in which he scored two glorious goals, Eduardo Da Silva now sees himself back on the sideline for up to two weeks with a niggling hamstring injury.

After make his comeback from a horrific injury that occurred just over a year ago which left him with a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula, the Croatian striker will be forced to watch from the stands yet again with fellow striker Emmanuel Adebayor when Arsenal take on Sunderland.

Arsenal are now slightly short on forwards, with inform star Robin van Persie, fast improving Dane Nicklas Bendtner, and exciting teen Carlos Vela the only ones fit.

Robin van Persie is a definite starter and its likely Bendtner will start with him for the encounter against Sunderland, but Carlos Vela is certain to be given a run.

The Mexican, who scored a stunning hat-trick on his senior debut back in September, has failed to see sufficient game time this season. With the odd run in the Premier League and few starts here and there in the cups, Vela deserves much more game time.

But due to the dominance of van Persie and Adebayor he has to settle for the odd inclusion on the bench. Now with Eduardo returning you fail to see him getting much more game time this season.

At 19, the Mexican striker still has a huge career in front of him. The youngster has already spent time in the Spanish Liga with Osasuna on loan. He managed a few brilliant goals and gained some vital experience.

I believe Vela should start up front with van Persie against Sunderland.

Vela has sensational pace and balance. He has all the tricks in the book and does everything with a silky, cool manner. When Vela has managed to get time on the pitch he is played more as a winger than a striker. I think he should play as an out and out striker if given a chance against Sunderland.

Time will tell if Vela gets his chance but as the Gunners know, the main thing is to triumph
