SmackDown Vs. RAW: The Game Comes to Life at Wrestlemania 25

Ron JohnsonFeb 17, 2009

Last night, it happened. The WWE capitalized on one of its biggest situations when they dropped a bombshell that they didn't even know they dropped. Want to know what it was?

WrestleMania 25 is about to meet the real version of the popular video game WWE SmackDown vs. RAW.

It all started at this past Sunday's No Way Out when Triple H became WWE Champion...and Edge lived up to his Ultimate Opportunist ways to become World Heavyweight Champion. The party continued on Monday Night RAW. We now know that an invasion is officially on the horizon leading up to the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania.

Last night, Edge found out that he will lock horns with RAW's John Cena at the Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment. This may not be the long awaited battle of Rated RKO, but this is the perfect culmination of the storybook rivalry that has gone on for the past few years between the Rated R Superstar/Rated G Wannabe and the Chain Gang Commander/WWE's Vanilla Ice.

But the ultimate twist of last night belonged to the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner and the newly crowned 13-Time WWE Champion. Randy Orton punted Shane McMahon in the head, but his biggest stunner would have to be Orton dropping Shane's sister with an RKO prompting the "shocking" arrival of Triple H.

Now this may seem like a broken record to some, but consider this: Triple H and Randy Orton haven't fought each other since Orton broke his collarbone in their WWE Championship Match at last year's ECW One Night Stand.

As for Cena & Edge, these two haven't battled it out since their epic TLC Match at Unforgiven a few years ago. After all that, the perfect ending to these two historic rivalries would be at the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania.

But the hits kept on coming in between the bombshells. JBL and Shawn Michaels will compete next Monday, and the stakes couldn't be any higher. The winner of that epic battle will challenge The Undertaker and try to end what is simply called, "The Streak."

So what sounds better? A Wrestling Fraud facing the Phenom? Or Mr. Wrestlemania tackling arguably the greatest streak in Sports? You decide, B/R Nation.

Which brings us to one last piece of anarchy: Chris Jericho. For over a month, Jericho has come out in protest of anyone in support of Mickey Rourke winning an Academy Award for his performance in The Wrestler. He's gone as far as to insult the Hall of Famers and the Legends. Everyone from Rourke to Flair to even Rowdy Roddy Piper have become victims of Jericho's Campaign for a Legends-Free WWE.

With all these Legends coming out in full circle, how long will it be before we see the current Hall of Famers or even the newest Hall of Famers come out and silence the Ayatollah of Blowsmokeupourasshollah? We already know that Jericho will have to go face to face with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania...but is Jericho actually goading all the Legends to shut him up? Because if that's the case, Jericho might want to work on his stamina a little bit. I smell a Legends Gauntlet on the Horizon.

Now with all that being said, this begs the question? With Batista on the shelf, what other forms of anarchy will come to fruition with 47 days remaining until the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania? And what would you like to see at the Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment?
