Joe Girardi To Attend A-Rod's Press Conference on Tuesday
Alex Rodriguez is supposedly reporting to camp this Tuesday, and it is expected to be a circus. Rodriguez is going to be holding a press conference to clear up what he said. This will be the first news conference he will hold since he admitted using PEDs on national television.
Joe Girardi has said that he plans to attend the press conference. Many of the Yankees players have also stated that they want to be present to show support. Itโs going to be all about A-Rod for the next few days...so get ready.
โI think it shows the unity of the club, and I think thatโs real important,โ Girardi said Sunday. โI think itโs important that teammates back teammates, and theyโre there for each other, and they know during difficult times they can lean on each other. Because, you know what? Thereโs going to be something else that comes up this year thatโs difficult maybe for a player to get through.โ
Girardi spoke with A-Rod recently about starting the season.
โHeโs excited. He said, `I canโt wait to start playing baseball,โโ Girardi said, recounting a Saturday conversation he had with his third baseman. โI think this is another step in the healing process and getting through this.โ
Once the press conference is over, Girardi anticipates putting the controversy behind him and the team.
โI donโt think dread is the word that I would necessarily use, but let me tell you Iโm really looking forward to getting beyond Tuesday,โ Girardi said. โI think it will linger a little bit, I think like Andyโs did in a sense, and maybe to a little larger magnitude just because people stay around for a little bit. Everyone canโt stay around forever. Thereโs other stories in the worldโhopefully fairly quickly.โ
