Counting Down 50 Greatest Wrestlers All Time with WWE '12 & Other Games (20-11)

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

We're almost done, wrestling and video game fans. We're breaking the top 20, and obviously the late Eddie Guerrero will make an appearance.

This is where the debates will get even more hot and heavy. I was honestly very surprised I didn't get more flack for Randy Orton's position at No. 22. It seems that today's wrestling fans are on par with me in their feelings about the Viper.

I respect Orton's accomplishments, especially at a relatively young age, but I find him a little less than amazing on the mic. That was the biggest factor in keeping him outside of the top 20.

For all the wrestling historians that have followed the countdown, I was equally surprised that I wasn't challenged about placing Lou Thesz at 29. Read a bit about Thesz here and see some of the moves he pioneered here.

If you research his contributions to the industry from an in-ring standpoint, it is truly amazing. That said, there is almost no mic work to see or hear. With wrestling having evolved to where it is today, it's hard to have a superstar with almost no mic work to reference rating higher than 29th.

That was the plight, to some degree, for many of the old-timers. This countdown was supposed to be based on the most complete performers, and the mic work is a major factor.

The deeper we move into the countdown, the bigger the names will become. Check out the video to see where Guerrero and other greats land.

In case you missed the previous three episodes, you can see them here: 50-41, 40-31 and 30-21.
