Did WWE Handle Christians Return Properly?

The Doctor Chris MuellerFeb 14, 2009

Anyone who watches pro wrestling knows that Christian made his much anticipated return to the WWE this week on ECW.  Christian came out at the top of the show to interupt the latest promo from Sylvester, The Cat, I mean Jack Swagger.

Christian really took it to Swagger's lisp during the promo, and he even referenced Sylvester's "Sufferin Suckotash" slogan.  Later that night they put on a decent match that had swagger lose with interference from Finlay.  I thought this was good because it didn't make the champ look weak, but its bad because they didn't show what Christian can really do in the ring.

There was a certain feeling of excitement when Christian made his return because for once, no one saw it coming.  The WWE can still pull out a few surprises i guess.  We all knew his return was immenent but when he was not at the rumble people had no idea when they would see him.

Some may say that putting Christian in ECW is a mistake because it puts him away from the main event roster, and the whole Edge-Hardy program.  Others may like this move because they could have Christian win his first world title in the WWE before going on to either feud with or team with Edge.

Granted, the ECW title is clearly on the third rung of the WWE ladder, it is still one of the top three titles and it is the top title on one of their shows, so having Christian hold it is a smart move.

As of right now it appears that Christian will be face for awhile which is a good move, whenever you bring in someone who is already popular it good to show them in a good light so fans tune in right away.  This means we may eventually see an Edge/Matt vs. Jeff/Christian situation which would certainly draw alot of people.

Like many, I have wanted to relive the classic TLC matches these guys had, but I realize that they can't just repackage the same matches ten years later, but mixing the teams up a bit may bring a new energy back to the tag scene.

I just hope that the WWE doesn't have Edge and Matt forget about how much they are supposed to hate each other without some kind of explanation.  The WWE has a habit of ignoring its past and this is one of their longest running feuds in history, to push that aside is an insult to the fans intelligence.

I hope to see Christian in this years money in the bank at Wreslemania, it would be great to see him win it and then steal Edge's title.

So was Christians return to WWE handled properly? I dont know, the only thing I know is that I enjoyed it.  What do you think?
