Sunrise in the NFC East: The Division's Top Links on June 29, 2012

Jun 7, 2018

Welcome to the final NFC East Sunrise in June. Big weekend ahead.

Canada—my country—turns 144 on Sunday, while the United States—your country—will be 236 three days later. Somewhere in between is Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, whom historians and archaeologists believe is between 190 and 200 years old.

OK, I won't quit my day job. But at least I worked football into my Sunrise intro for once.

King of an oddly slow news day in the football capital of the world. In other words, people took a day off from lambasting/lauding the polar Antonio Ramiro Romo. We do, however, have a piece from Bleacher Report's Zach Kruse, who asks whether Romo is underrated. I, along with 84.3 percent of Kruse's readers, think he is.

Who is the Cowboys' most important assistant coach? Tom Ryle breaks it down for Blogging the Boys.

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post on why Eli Manning's teammates think their quarterback is elite.

Casey Sherman of Giants 101 on the expanded role Henry Hynoski might play for the Giants this season. I thought there was some kind of law against fullbacks being relevant in 2012.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke wonders if the Giants have the necessary motivation to repeat. Yeah, because becoming a dynasty isn't very motivating...

Urgent and horrifying news story: The Eagles have changed soda sponsors from Pepsi to Coke. This hurts because I'm personally a Pepsi guy after working in merchandising for them for six weeks as a 19-year-old. True, compelling story.

Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com has strong feelings for the current group of Eagles receivers, but he insists they're just friends. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Based on this story from ESPN's Dan Graziano, I'm starting to believe that last year's four-game suspension really was a wake-up call for Trent Williams:

"

"If anything, I'm hungrier this year than I was last year just because of what I've been through and knowing how it is to not have football when everybody else has it. This year should be big for me."

"

From Ian Rapoport: Robert Griffin III has somehow convinced several of his receivers to join him for informal summer practices in July...in Waco, Texas. With all due respect to Waco (that usually means I'm going to say something disrespectful), it's not exactly the kind of place pro athletes want to spend their summer vacation.
