Terrence Ross Draft Day Suit: Raptors' Newest Member Is Trying Too Hard

When I saw Terrence Ross' suit on draft day, one thing came to mind: How hard is this guy trying to stand out?

The newest member of the Toronto Raptors and the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft had the most ridiculous suit out of any prospect taken up to that point. 

Let's start with the bow tie. What was that? I didn't know if I was looking at a piece of apparel or an optical illusion tied around his neck. The dude looked like Carlton Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

I was expecting him to bust out some kind of coordinated dance with David Stern when he walked up to the podium.

I'm no fashion expert, but there were too many patterns going on in that getup. The green plaid bow tie mixed with the plaid of the shirt made me dizzy. Don't you hit a certain point when too much plaid is, well...too much?

He looked like an Italian sausage in his suit too. The thing was bursting at the seams. When did we revert back to 1970's fashion and skin-tight clothing on male basketball players? That's news to me.

I'm still hung up on the bow tie. That was the biggest bow tie I've seen in all my years of bow tie surveying.

Back to the rest of the ensemble.

The shoes freak me out. Maybe it's just because they look like they're a lot longer than they should be, but they just don't get the job done.

His pocket hanky was a nice touch though. It turns the entire outfit from a disaster to something eccentric. That was a classy addition on Ross' part.

Aside from the fashion debacle, Ross is a great addition to the Raptors. He's a sharpshooter from the outside but can also get to the hoop with a quick first step.

Despite his subpar fashion effort on draft day, Ross is going to be one of the most exciting new players to watch this upcoming season.
