Minnesota Vikings: Week In News, Feb 7-14

Tanner ThomsFeb 13, 2009

It's been over two weeks since the end of the 2008-2009 season.

We've learned a few new things: Michael Vick is expected to be traded, Brandon Jacobs will remain a Giant, a punter received the franchise tag, Anquan Boldin wants to leave the team that made him what he is today, and Terrell Owens may no longer be in Dallas very soon.

So, maybe it's not big news, but it could serve as good news for other teams.

Minnesota could use a solid No. 2 receiver or another No. 1 that could move Bernard Berrian down a notch. A few options: T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Plaxico Burress, Terrell Owens, Anquan Boldin, and Chad Johnson/Ocho Cinco.

As for the Vikings news, this is what happened.

E.J. Henderson Taken off IR (dislocated toes on left foot).
Drew Radovich Taken off IR (shoulder).
Charles Gordon Taken off IR (broken left ankle).
Mike Jones Taken off IR.
Kenderick Allen Taken off IR (right wrist).
Michael Boulware Taken off IR (wrist).
Heath Farwell Taken off IR (right knee).
Jayme Mitchell Taken off IR (left knee).

There you have it. No cuts. No signings. Just simply, taking players off injured reserve.

I'm excited to get E.J. Henderson back. He was deeply missed in the middle all year long. Michael Boulware is a special-teams presence that the Vikings really need. They gave up the most return touchdowns in the league.

In the news few days I expect the Vikings to make a few cuts.

Cut List:
WR- Darius Reynaud
DE- Jayme Mitchell
QB- Gus Frerotte

Outside of that, I don't see too much happening. I will be putting out a new article each week putting out what has happened in the past seven days for the Minnesota Vikings.

Have any questions or comments? Please let me know. Feel free to give your opinion or hypothesis on what the Vikings might do over the next few days or weeks.
