Random Thoughts I Think I'm Thinking About the NFL During These Slow Times
I miss the NFL.
Ya know what, I MISS THE AFL.
I guess I just miss football.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
So during these slow times I can't help but ponder random things regarding the NFL and other hot-button issues.
- As an Eagles fan, I hear the talk about getting a No. 1 receiver. But why would we want one? The answer is: Give McNabb another weapon. Well, shouldn't the first priority then be keeping him happy and in Philly?
I mean, I understand McNabb gets a lot of heat (very little I think he deserves) but come on. I find it extremely backward to say, "Oh this guy can't win the big one and he's a choke artist" but then turn around and yell for Anquan Boldin. What does it matter if McNabb is such a choker?
All I'm saying is, quit yelling about change at quarterback. Talk to a fan in Minnesota, New York, Oakland, Detroit, San Francisco, or any of the other teams that can't seem to find anything but the scrap-heap quarterbacks. They'd do a backflip if we put McNugget on the trading block.
As far as I'm concerned, give McNabb either a back-heavy or incentive-laden contract and make the man happy. He's brought Philly unprecedented success and deserves nearly anything for which he ask. Oh, and by the way, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO OUT AND GET ANQUAN BOLDIN/T.J. WHOSYAMOMMA/CHAD OCHO JOHNSON FIVE CINCO.com!
- Plax wants a trade? Really? From where? Federal to county?
- The Falcons are actively trying to trade Mike Vick. Hmmm. The stupidity of the Falcons for trying this is greater than or equal to that of Plax for trying to GET traded. Come on, no one is biting on an inmate who will bring nothing but a media circus. Hopefully it's a dog circus.
- Michael Phelps smokes pot. Alex Rodriguez took steroids for three years. Am I the only one who's apathetic to both of these stories?
- Actually, back to A-Rod. Okay, he took 'roids. Fine. But now I hear people saying that he doesn't belong in the hall and he's a disgrace and this and that but um, hasn't he put up fantastic numbers from '04 to the present? Newsflash folks, steroids don't carry over for four years. This is all A-Rod.
- Am I the only Eagles fan who would trade Kevin Kolb for five bucks and a Big Mac? Then use that five bucks to buy another Big Mac. So long, Kevin. Andy thanks you kindly for the burgers.
- The guy/girl/thing in the picture for this article really scares the hell out of me.
- The Giants slapped the franchise tag on Brandon Jacobs. He'll get paid roughly $6.5 million in 2009. Here's my beef with the franchise tag. Um, why not just sign the guy to a contract worth, oh I don't know, roughly $6.5 mil a year?
- Brett Favre retired, and that makes me sad. I'm a big Brett Favre fan and I wish him all the best in anything he decides to pursue. Boo to all the Favre-haters.
- Chase Utley might be ready for Opening Day. That would be lovely.
- The Senate is voting on the stimulus package right now. While I think there's probably a whole lot of pork in this bill, I think it's important that it get passed and the Republicans get their heads out of their asses and realize this is about something much bigger than partisan nonsense. Parties need to be abolished and we need to start over. Thomas Jefferson warned about the idea of political parties and boy was he ever right. This is all coming from a Bush-supporting Republican by the way. Fun, huh?
- Quick Fact: Just mentioned I'm a Republican, I voted for Obama. Yeah.
- Did you hear about the guy who referred to Lance Armstrong as a cancer to cycling? I'm not sure whether that's funny, cruel, or funny but just cruel because it is way too soon.
- I honestly believe Donovan McNabb is the third-best quarterback in the NFL today. 1. Manning, 2. Brady, 3. McNabb, 4. Rivers, 5. Brees. Shame on Bryn Swartz for putting him at sixth (I believe)!
- As far as a pure coach goes, I believe Andy Reid is the best in the league. Ya know as far as motivation and simply being a teacher of the game. Now as far as play-calling goes...that's a different story.
- I really want Beanie Wells to fall to 21.
- I think Mark Sanchez is highly overrated. I think Matt Stafford is overrated. Bad things happen when a quarterback comes out after his junior year. Just ask the epitome of under-achieving—Drew Bledsoe!
- I don't think that the Super Bowl was as great as everyone is making it out to be. From my angle, it looked like a very sloppy game that the supposed two best teams the NFL has to offer should not have played. I mean there was a penalty that resulted in two points for cryin' out loud! A safety off of a holding penalty! In the Super Bowl? Jeeze.
- Roethlisberger got extremely lucky, and Santanio Holmes just booked himself a place in NFL history with that spectacular catch.
- I will not attempt a mock draft. Those things are hell and nothing more than a wild guess. The mind of an NFL GM has to be a scary, scary place.
- A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. I like that. Bill had a way with those wordy thingers.
- I hope the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins all go 0-16. Don't you dare try to argue anything to dispute what I just said. All three of them, zero wins. Don't you argue things that count.
- The Cardinals are cleaning house on that coaching staff. I guess they've gotten so used to losing that Whisenhunt needs hit and reminded, "YOU GUYS WENT TO THE SUPER BOWL! KEEP THE DAMN COACHES!"
- Last but not least, I really really hate the NBA.
Well, I've run out of random thoughts. This was very therapeutic. Thank you for taking time to read. Feel free to dispute anything I may have randomly thought.
Until next time, Auf Wiedersehen.
