Heat Rumors: Adding Ray Allen Would Guarantee Back-to-Back Titles for Miami

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

The Miami Heat are less than a week removed from winning the NBA Finals, but the organization is clearly hungry for a second-straight title and are already looking to upgrade their roster.

When free agency officially begins on Sunday, expect the Heat to make a strong push for Ray Allen. Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld has confirmed this from insider sources.

With LeBron James playing the best basketball of his life, Dwyane Wade embracing his role as a sidekick and Chris Bosh balancing out the "Big Three," adding the all-time leading three-point shooter would just be icing on the cake.

Miami averaged a solid 6.8 made treys on 19.7 attempts per game during their 2012 postseason run, and those numbers would only go up with the addition of Jesus Shuttlesworth.

Allen would also be a huge acquisition for his uncanny ability to ice a contest down the stretch. His career 89.4 percent free-throw shooting and history of nailing big shots in the clutch are something that the Heat would love to have.

Considering that Mario Chalmers (72 percent in the postseason), Wade (73 percent) and LeBron (74 percent) were often at the line in technical situations and to close out late games, the 36-year-old SG would be a major upgrade in those scenarios.

A potential lineup of Chalmers, Allen, Wade, LeBron and Bosh would be an absolute nightmare for defenses to deal with, as each player is great at spacing the floor and knocking down jumpers, and they all possesses the capability to get to the rim.

As much as the Boston Celtics would love to retain Allen and Kevin Garnett to make one last title run in their Big Three era, Ray Ray knows his legacy will be defined by championships as much as three-pointers.

Miami gives him the best chance to win one, and the situation would be mutually beneficial for both parties.
