Novak Djkovic: Why Tennis Superstar Is Lock for Wimbledon Crown

Nicholas GossJun 3, 2018

Even after Novak Djokovic's defeat in the final of the French Open, the world's No. 1 ranked player is still the favorite to win Wimbledon for the second time in his career.

A victory in London would be the sixth Grand Slam singles title of his career, and with a strong round one victory over Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets, Djokovic looks comfortable on a grass surface that he can dominate on.

The clay courts of Roland Garros are not his strong surface, but Djokovic played better than he ever had at the French Open this year and came up just short.

Now that he's away from the clay in Paris, there's no reason to think that Djokovic isn't going to return to his dominant self.

Coming into the French Open, Djokovic was looking to win his fourth straight Grand Slam title, and at Wimbledon, he will start a new streak.

His service game will be better on grass, and his superior athleticism will be much more effective away from the clay courts.

The biggest challenger to Djokovic's continued dominance in Grand Slam tournaments is Spanish star Rafael Nadal, who hasn't beat the Serbian on a surface other than clay since 2010.

Djokovic has the mental and physical edge over Nadal on any surface other than clay, and will be the toughest player to beat at Wimbledon this year.

He's still in the prime of his career and now that he's back on a surface he loves, Djokovic will dominate at Wimbledon and successfully defend his championship. It would be shocking if he didn't take home the title in London.
