WWE: 5 Questions Coming from Monday Night Raw

Chris FeatherstoneJun 7, 2018

On this episode of Monday Night Return, we saw streaks broken, wrestlers returning and "historical" announcements. Vickie Guerrero staked her claim as the General Manager, and two No.1 contenders for the WHC were established.

With Money in the Bank three weeks away, the participants for the WWE Championship ladder match were solidified, and the WWE Title match for the event is official.

From the aftermath of Raw, here are five questions that urgently need answers:

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Is Brodus Clay's knee his ticket to Jobberville?

Since his "Funkasaurus" debut, Brodus Clay has been red-hot, harpooning through competition with relative ease. This past Raw, we saw his near six-month undefeated streak broken by the Big Show. Although his character finally has some kind of direction, unfortunately, he seems to be just a pawn in Big Show's path of dominance.

Yes, he may have a small feud with David Otunga, but it wouldn't surprise me if Otunga uses his bum knee to garner a cheap win in the near future. We shall see if the reign of the "Funkasaurus" as a legitimate threat in the WWE has subsided.

What is next for AJ?

Admittedly, AJ has been the best thing going in the Diva's division for quite some time. With a demented and zany character comparable to Mickie James and Victoria when they were in the WWE, AJ's character is continuing to gain the interest of the fans.

What's next for her, though? Kane tells her that they must go their separate ways, Daniel Bryan still has no interest and CM Punk feels that she is going too fast with her feelings toward him. Are we watching WWE Raw or As the World Turns?

Why continue to bridle Chris Jericho?

With recent reports stemming Chris Jericho's return as a face, why have him come back during a John Cena interview? The crowd was so pro-Jericho that it couldn't be overlooked. Even in their match, the crowd was behind Jericho.

The short dialogue between him and Vickie Guerrero would have been a perfect opportunity for him to be a face. Vickie could have been in the ring, announce three of the four participants for the WWE Championship MITB match and then Jericho could have returned.

Jericho deserves better. Creative has the ability to make him the top guy, but his character continues to hit a glass ceiling. And why show Fozzy concert clips if he came back as a heel? I don't get it either.

Why degrade the US Title?

Sting, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero, Dusty Rhodes, Barry Windham—people who brought honor and prestige to the US Title.

Don't get me wrong, I love Santino. His character brings a much-needed comic relief element to the WWE. However, his representation of the US Title has been embarrassing, to say the least. Michael Cole gave two statistics that further proved this point; he has been US Champ since March, and his last defense was over two months ago. What happened to the 30-day rule?

Maybe more defenses by Santino could help, but hopefully the prestige of the title isn't too buried for even that not to matter.

Why dupe us with an alleged Brock Lesnar appearance?

If you don't know by now, Brock Lesnar signed a limited appearance deal with the WWE, hence, the appearances by Paul Heyman on his behalf. Next week, he is advertised to give his answer to Triple H's proposal to compete at SummerSlam.

Although we may be surprised if he does appear on live TV next week, it seems highly unlikely. Either an appearance via satellite or another Paul Heyman appearance is seemingly the top options.

Brock Lesnar's booking has enervated nearly all the hype of his return. Although SummerSlam is the most appropriate PPV for a Lesnar/Triple H match, stretching it out with only few appearances between the both of them has been lackluster at best.
