Mike Tyson Video: Watch Boxing Legend's Hilarious Interview on PTI
Mike Tyson is known more to younger generations as an eclectic personality that does film cameos and says insane things during interviews, rather than one of the greatest boxers of all time.
His appearance on Pardon the Interruption with Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon certainly helped maintain the former description.
Tyson is currently making rounds on television to promote his one-man Broadway show entitled “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth,” which will debut on July 31 and run through August 12. He’s teaming up with director Spike Lee for the production and, if this interview is any indication, it promises to be nothing short of hilarious and insightful.
During the nearly eight-minute PTI segment, Iron Mike tells a tale that involves venereal diseases, divorce from his ex-wife Robin Givens and Brad Pitt.
Tyson also weighs in on how boxing is stuck in the past and corrupt, contrasting it to the popularity and excitement of modern MMA.
The former prizefighter has undergone a number of transformations since first emerging on the scene back in 1986. He’s been praised for his skill in the ring, vilified by the media for his erratic behavior out of it and scorned for actions that landed him in prison.
His appearance in The Hangover back in 2009 helped sway public opinion in his favor, and Tyson has become an enjoyable and eccentric comedian of sorts over the past few years.
The former “baddest man on the planet” seems much more comfortable in his new skin, telling the PTI hosts:
"I embrace my shame and embarrassment. In order to like myself, I have to embrace truly who I am."
Hopefully his Broadway show is just as good as this candid interview, because it will certainly garner some Tony nominations if that is the case.
