Wimbledon 2012 Bracket: Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal Is Inevitable Final

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

The tennis world better be ready for a third grand slam final this year, featuring Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal.

We are in one of those periods of men's tennis where the two best players in the world are significantly better than everyone else. The older Roger Federer gets, the bigger the gap between second and third.

Because of this, it's a safe bet that Djokovic and Nadal will likely be meeting in the finals of grand slams for a good while. Most would say that Andy Murray leads the next tier, but he hasn't had much luck against Rafa.

He's 5-13 head-to-head against Nadal and he's been a little better against Djokovic at 5-8, but there is no question who the superior player is.

Looking at the draw, which you can see by clicking here.

Nadal has a potentially difficult match in the quarterfinals. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is the other high-seeded player in Nadal's group, but if Nadal is still playing the way he played at the French Open, he should be fine.

The surface matters, but Nadal has proven twice that he's capable of winning at the All England Club. His titles in 2008 and 2010 have already solidified him as more than a clay-court genius.

Djokovic is the defending champion, and despite Nadal's recent run, Djoker has won three of the last four Grand Slams.

He isn't the No. 1 player in the world for nothing.

His most difficult potential quarterfinal matchup is No. 6 seed, Tomas Berdych. Djokovic's game and intensity level is un-matched. He appears to be almost upset-proof in most instances.

He has a Jimmy Connors-like quality to rise to the occasion.

I see no upstart and no seasoned veteran who can prevent these two from meeting in the Wimbledon final. This final will determine the course of the rest of the season and the year-end rankings.

It will be another epic final that we can add to their building catalog of head-to-head classics.
