Wimbledon 2012: Roger Federer Will Add 17th Grand Slam Title to Wimbledon Legacy

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Roger Federer hasn't won at Wimbledon since 2009 when he captured his sixth career title at the tournament, but even though he hasn't had much success in England since, his historic run at Wimbledon isn't over yet.

He will win his seventh crown this year and add a 17th Grand Slam singles title to arguably the most impressive resume in the sport's history.

Federer hasn't advanced past the quarterfinals at Wimbledon since 2009, but he has been playing some great tennis of late, evidenced by his three straight semifinals appearances in Grand Slam tournaments.

Despite stars such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal getting the best of Federer lately in Grand Slams, the Swiss champion hasn't regressed in talent very much since he was in his prime.

The reason for Federer's lack of success at Grand Slam events since 2009 isn't because of a loss in talent, it's because players like Djokovic are in their prime and have gotten better.

Federer has had an impressive season in 2012 with four singles titles. He's still one of the elite players in the world and knows what it takes to triumph at Wimbledon.

If Federer can limit his unforced errors and use his serve to his advantage, he will reach the final and have a solid chance to defeat anyone who opposes him.

Federer will win this year's tournament in London and tie Peter Sampras for the most Wimbledon singles titles of all-time.
