Detroit Lions: Top Five Players To Consider In Free Agency

Jamesly Jean-CharlesFeb 12, 2009

With lions 0-16 record they are officially the worst franchise in the league.when you have a team that this bad then as a Gm you should look to add the best possible player in Free Agency as well as the draft. This A list of the players the lions should Target in Free Agency.

1. Channing Crowder

At 6-2, 250 pounds, Channing Crowder is one of the best young stars in the league.

With his rookie contract running out, Channing Crowder is now a free agent, who the Lions should target. With him in the middle and Ernie Sims on the outside, the Lions would have a dynamic duo at linebacker.

2. Bo Scaife

With Michael Gaines being a disappointment at the tight end position, the Lions will be in the market for a new starting tight end.

Look for Bo Scaife to reunite with Jim Schwartz in Detroit.

3. Dominique Foxworth

The Detroit Lions have officially released Leigh Bodden, which means they will be in the market for two starting cornerbacks.

Although Foxworth is not the best of the group, Nnamdi is getting tagged in Oakland and Dunta is getting re-signed by Houston, there's not much talent in Free agency at the Cornerback position look for the lions to pursue Dominique foxworth.

4. Devery Henderson

Scott Linehan made it clear that he wants to attack a defense. What better way to do that then by having two speedsters on the outside in Calvin Johnson and Devery Henderson?

If the Lions were to acquire Henderson in free agency, teams would be forced to keep their safety back to avoid getting beat deep, which would open up the running game for Kevin Smith.

5. J.J Arrington

I know Darren Sproles is more explosive, but think about it.

Arrington can be a good back behind Smith and Felton. With his speed and return ability, J.J. Arrington should provide a spark for the Lions at a much cheaper price.
