Here Is a Shocker: The WWE Is Interested in Acquiring Another Top TNA Star

Joe Burgett Feb 12, 2009

After seeing former TNA star and TNA World Champion Christian Cage join the WWE on the ECW roster we were all happy that we would not have to wonder about any other TNA star jumping ship.

But well, that is just about over, I am sorry to report. Huge news coming out from WWE management today says that the WWE is very interested in acquiring current TNA Tag Team Champion Robert Roode.

They really like his image and are high on his wrestling ability. As we all know he would get paid a bunch more than he would in TNA.

And this is significant because according to The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, Roode's TNA contract ends this March or April.

According to people backstage the WWE is using more and more sons of wrestlers in their developmental territory because even with the money involved, they are finding it hard to recruit, train and maintain top level athletes.

And this kind of makes you wonder about FCW, and if the athletes coming out of there are actually worth seeing on WWE TV, even on ECW.

As far as I have seen, the new stars coming up can wrestle better than many current ones. And I like the way they have used them too. But now they are coming out saying it is harder to train and maintain the top level athletes?

It makes no sense to me. If they are good use them the way they need to be used. Heck even the son's of former stars will want the same thing. Look at Rhodes and DiBiase, both came out of FCW.

Both did well in FCW, and yet they look to be top level athletes right now. Enough to be a part of the next big faction in the WWE.

Roode would be one you'd have to recruit right, so I kind of wonder about that part. Also they have been getting in great young stars too. Apparently they are never happy in the WWE.

But I like the idea of getting Roode. See he is a great wrestler. From Canada, Roode has been in many of the top promotions up there before joining up with TNA.

I can't tell you I have seen his entire TNA career, but from what I have seen since 2006 when I first started watching them, he can work in any way TNA wants to use him.

He is a great heel and I bet he could be a nice face if needed. He is kind of the equivalent of WWE's Chris Jericho. Forget the Canadian comparison and focus on the heel persona and wrestling ability and you will see what I mean.

Not only can he work as a great tag team competitor, but also he is a great singles guy. As a matter of fact he made his name in TNA as the rich, annoying, and arrogant rich man.

If he is true to his character and his mind is on his money, then I see him leaving around Wrestlemania time to join up with the top wrestling promotion in the world, the WWE.

This has been an Assassin article.
