WWE News: Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio Headed for a Push Upon Return

Gone Baby GoneJun 7, 2018

Add this to the rumor mill.

It now appears the WWE is planning to give controversial star Randy Orton a big push once he comes back from suspension. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but news is also coming out that Rey Mysterio Jr. will be getting a similar push upon his return, both men as faces.

Due to the depth issues with WWE's roster, Randy Orton will continue to be pushed near the top when he returns from suspension soon. Orton has been vocally frustrated in the sense that he believes he is better as a heel.

WWE feels they need one top babyface to anchor the live events and they are trying to get Sheamus there but aren't sure if he's ready yet, which is why Orton is still a babyface.

Orton is also frustrated because officials took his punt kick away from him, which was done because of the concussion issues.

Rey Mysterio's 60 day suspension ends today and he is eligible to return to action. Word this weekend was that Rey won't be returning until next week's TV tapings but he will indeed be pushed upon returning.

Ultimately, I get that the WWE has some issues in their main-event roster. However, the lack of faces is not the issue, as several of their main-eventers are rallied behind every night. Ultimately, the WWE needs a solid heel more than they do a face.

The fact is even the current No. 1 heel Daniel Bryan is cheered more than jeered simply due to one word—yes. Somehow, Bryan managed to go from an obnoxious heel to a star whom fans grew to love.

To me, Orton should return and be pushed as a heel, as he's really the only credible heel whom the company has right now. Not to mention, there's no way Mysterio can ever turn, being as he's way too over with fans.

Let's face it, the WWE is riddled with main-event issues, and with several impending face returns, heels will be more in demand than ever. As it currently appears, anyone who faces current World Champion Sheamus will be on the losing end.

That is until the right heel comes along, and to me, Orton is that heel. That being said, the WWE needs to find a way to bring Orton back as the top bad guy and make a solid summer feud between him and Sheamus.

In the end, Orton truly is the only heel star left who believably could win the gold from Sheamus.
