Hulk Transfer Rumours: Latest News on the FC Porto Star
Givanildo Souza, known to the majority of the footballing world as Hulk, has become one of the most sought after players in all of Europe.
The 25-year-old Brazilian that made his first splash of scoring greatness in the Japanese J-League before moving to Portugal in 2008 is still unknown as to whether he will make a move this summer.
Despite his highly rated abilities, Hulk has only played for one club in Europe, but that is believed soon to change.
Be sure to follow Bleacher Report for all of your latest news on the goal scorer's transfer rumors as he continues to be seen as one of Europe's hottest targets.
The Buyout Clause
1 of 5When Chelsea were the main club looking at signing FC Porto's sensational Brazilian front man, Hulk it was reported that he was going to cost the club at least £80 million.
One of the highest buyout clauses in all of Europe and Porto looked keen to ensure that they did not loose their best attacker having already lost Radamel Falcao to Atletico Madrid the past summer.
However, it now appears that the Portuguese side has finally realized that if they intend to make a profit on the player, it at least cannot be at the highway robbery price they had him listed at before.
With a new asking price thought to be in the range of £38-45 million from the majority of rumors in the press, he seems much more likely to get out of the left half of the Iberian peninsula.
Chelsea
2 of 5Chelsea Football club have been the No.1 admirers of the Brazilian goalscorer and playmaker since the January transfer window of 2012. During that time, Hulk's former manager in Andre Villas-Boas was at the club and seem ready to use his influence to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
Had it not been for the ridiculous buyout clause in the player's contract he would likely have already been debuted at Stamford Bridge.
The Telegraph announced that the move for the player was nearly done back in the early days of June, but if that is so, there must be a lot of back down dealing that the press is not privy to.
Paris Saint Germain
3 of 5French League 1 club Paris Saint Germain have entered the fray of clubs that are interested in signing the talented attacker.
However, although Chelsea seems the preferred choice for the player, the Daily Mail insists that an offer from the French club stands at £43 million, well above the prices believed to have been offered to them from Chelsea or any other club.
Despite the player possibly wanting the Chelsea switch the most, it is still possible that a high profit fee could see the Portuguese club have their hand forced to the highest bidder.
He Only Has Eyes for the Blues
4 of 5According to an interview with Hulk that was quoted by TalkSport, the Brazilian only appears to want to move to Chelsea:
"Chelsea are the champions of Europe and any player would like to go there.
I would like to go there more than any other club. But I have to remember that I have a contract at Porto and I am very happy here too.
"
With that statement, it appears clear that the "come and get me plea" has been issued by the player and if Roberto Di Matteo really wants to bring in one of the clubs top targets of the 2012 calendar year then he needs to act quickly.
Can He Produce the Numbers?
5 of 5One of the biggest debates of Hulk's potential signing for Chelsea is whether or not the Brazilian can reproduce his goalscoring and assist-providing form at a higher level than in Portugal.
Hulk has averaged 25 goals and 18 assists over the last three seasons and his totals more than equal those of the departing Didier Drogba. The numbers prove that statistically if he hits home in the English Premier League, he will be a massive addition to the Blues.
However, the English Premier League is one of the fastest and toughest in the world and if Hulk is expected to finish with 25 plus goals and 18 or more assists per-season, he has to make sure to step it up and justify the massive price tag he is expected to command.
