College Football Recruiting 2013: Clemson Stays Hot, Lands Another 4-Star Commit

Wes ODonnellJun 19, 2012

Six days ago, Clemson didn't have any defensive ends committed to their 2013 class—now they have three.

Not just any three either. The Tigers earned the commitment of the No. 1 recruit in the country, defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, and then earned the pledges of two ESPN 4-star defensive ends later in the week.

Elijah Daniel of Avon High School (Avon, Ind.) committed on June 17th and Dane Rogers of Crest High School (Shelby, N.C.) made his commitment to Clemson official today, according to Scout.com.

The Tigers' 2013 class now includes 11 commitments, four of which are in the ESPN 150.

The week has been huge for the Tigers, who hope their recruiting prowess can help prove their upstart 2011 season wasn't a fluke.

Nkemdiche, Daniel and Rogers won't be able to help at all this year, but it won't be long before they officially take up residence in Death Valley.

Rogers is slightly undersized at 6'3" and 230 pounds, but he's still coming into his own. He also had offers from UNC, N.C. State, Rutgers and Tennessee.

His decision to join Clemson along with Nkemdiche and Daniel gives the Tigers a potentially fearsome front seven in the coming years. The Tigers' 2013 group includes ESPN 4-star linebackers Dorian O'Daniel and Ben Boulware one year after they earned no pledges from 4-star 'backers.

The defensive line was a major area of need for the Tigers after they landed only two ESPN 4-star players in the front four in the entire 2012 class.
