Podolski, Giroud and Van Persie Could Form One of the Best Attacking Trios

Raul HingoraniJun 7, 2018

With the summer advancing its course, transfer speculations have been arising from all over the place for many clubs. For example, Belgium's star Eden Hazard has confirmed that he will be moving to Chelsea. The club is also coming close to a deal with Brazilian player, Hulk.

Manchester United are probably going to have young Japanese player, Shinji Kagawa, in their lineup in the coming season, and many more transfer rumors have risen for many other clubs.

Arsenal also have their own transfer news to accompany the others. They have already confirmed a deal with Cologne for their forward, Lukas Podolski, so he will be seen in Arsenal colors next season.

It has been recently reported on Goal.com that Arsenal have agreed to a deal for Montpellier's 25 year old striker Olivier Giroud. Once the Euro Cup is over for the French, Giroud will be an Arsenal player.

With those two signings, one extremely important task for Arsenal, apart from signing a few more talented players, would be to extend Robin van Persie's contract. With the club signing world-class players, which is what van Persie wanted to see, the chances of him staying might increase.

With all of this in mind, if van Persie stays, Arsenal could have one of the best forward combinations in the Premiere League.

Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski has skills that he can use in more than one position. He can play on the left wing, like he does for the German national team, or he can play a central attacking position like he has done during the Bundesliga season for Cologne.

In these positions, he has scored a plethora of goals in different forms. In the 2011-12 season with Cologne, Podolski scored 18 goals in 31 appearances. For the national team, Podolski has scored 44 goals in 100 appearances.

He just completed his 100th cap in Germany's last group stage match of the Euro Cup against Denmark in which he happened to score his 44th international goal.

With various great performances in his career, let's see if he can perform well at Arsenal.

Oliver Giroud

Olivier Giroud is a pure striker. It's the one position that he is extremely effective at when playing. He has various forms of scoring that can work almost all the time.

At Montpellier, he has proven to be a goal scoring machine; last season for the French club, he scored 25 goals in 43 appearances. To add to the goals, he had 9 assists as well.

His attacking prowess is the reason he has scored many goals.

He is an aerial threat in set pieces and when crosses are sent in. At Arsenal, crosses are a big part of their game. Usually, they just result in a clearance by the defense, but if a player like Giroud, who is tall, is in the box, those crosses can result in various goals.

He can also finish cleanly and stylishly when necessary.

Robin van Persie

Not much needs to be said about Robin van Persie.

He has had his best season at Arsenal, scoring 37 goals in 48 appearances for Arsenal last season, and he had 11 assists to go with the goals.

He has been Arsenal's main attacking force during the season.

It is already known what these three attacking talents are capable of doing on their own respective teams, but together, they can do even more offensively and score more goals.

With attacking support, van Persie wouldn't be the primary goal scorer if he stays at Arsenal.
