WWE No Way Out 2012 Results: 5 Potential Opponents for Sheamus' World Title

Gone Baby GoneJun 7, 2018

No Way Out is officially over.

Unfortunately, the WWE gave us a pretty predictable pay-per-view.

Granted, it's not entirely their fault. After all, the main-event scene has seen a major overhaul since Over The Limit.

This resulted in several changes in feuds and matches, and left the WWE with very few choices.

It was a solid pay-per-view. The matches may have been predictable, but most were fairly strong and took storylines a step further.

Unfortunately, I feel there is no way that Dolph Ziggler will land a rematch for Sheamus's title. That being said, we are about a month away from Money in the Bank, and "The Celtic Warrior" needs a legitimate opponent to challenge for his belt.

All but one of these choices can fill that void—the last choice was picked for purely selfish reasons.

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes is all but ready to take the next step in his WWE career.

He has put on several amazing matches and has really done a great job of building his character.

The 26-year-old may not have size in his corner, but if given the chance, he could give the WWE Universe a great feud this summer.

Rey Mysterio

2 of 5

Mysterio's suspension is slated to end in a little over a week.

Like him or not, he is very over with the fans and could easily slide into a feud with Sheamus upon his return.

I am not saying this would be an epic feud. However, it would give Sheamus a legitimate opponent and Mysterio a nice feud to return to.

Big Show

3 of 5

While it appears that Big Show is headed for a program with Brodus Clay, there is no doubt that he would be a great opponent for Sheamus.

He is a heel that can pack a punch and could easily help put Sheamus over and legitimize this title reign.

John Cena

Cena is fresh off a win at No Way Out and has nothing left to prove on Raw.

For that reason, a move to the blue brand would perhaps help rejuvenate his career and persona.

What's more, a summer-long feud with Sheamus would certainly help legitimize "The Celtic Warrior" as world champion.

Matt Morgan

Morgan officially ended his TNA ties this weekend after performing his last two dates.

Once his obligations were finished, Morgan posted the following tweets:

"

"

Due to poor booking, Morgan was never given the chance to meet any main event expectations with TNA.

That being said, he has the look and agility to make it. The former "DNA of TNA" will now go on to the WWE and hopefully receive a push out of the gate.

Right now, the WWE needs a monster heel with experience and a name to come in and make an impact in the depleted main-event scene.

Unfortunately, Morgan will not be able to do anything until mid-September/early-October due to his non-compete clause with TNA.

At the very least, I guess we have something to look forward to this fall.
