Le Mans 2012 Results: Audi Dominant in Thrilling Event

With the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans wrapping up, the excitement that took place on France's Circuit de la Sarthe was off the charts.

As expected, Team Audi dominated for the second consecutive year and brought home their 11th overall title.

Veteran Audi Sport Team Joest drivers Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer brought their Audi R18 E-Tron QUATTRO car to the front of the pack and made their money by staying there.

With continued dominance throughout the race, there was no question which cars had the clear edge.

With a new crop of technological advances, the Audi team won with energy-harvesting technology and four-wheel drive, two things that the sport has been moving towards for years.

Not only did Audi win the race, they have brought the sport of auto racing to a new level.

As good as the Audi teams were all day, the Toyota cars ran amazing in their first Le Mans 24 since 1999. With a fourth-place finish and two cars in the top seven, the company’s return to the race without very much testing was a resounding success.

With plenty of experience, fans can rest assured that the Toyota team will be back in 2013 with an even better car. That car will have a chance to steal the show and win.

The Nissan cars also had a great showing, but there is no doubt that Audi and their four cars in the top five won the day.

After an amazing day of racing, though, the fans of the sport are the real winners.
