Clint Dempsey: Top 10 Goals of His Accomplished Career

There is no hiding the fact that Clint Dempsey has become one of the premier goal scorers in the English Premier League. His stellar season for Fulham that ranked in the Top Five in scoring has earned him plenty of interest from top clubs throughout Europe looking to acquire his services.

Dempsey has also established himself as the stud of a USMNT offense as Landon Donovan's international career slowly comes to a close. But it is not just his scoring that is making him such a threat on offense, as he has the playmaking and vision to wear No. 10 for the USMNT as well. 10. World Cup Goal vs Ghana

Possibly one of the most iconic images of the 2006 World Cup was that of Dempsey pounding his chest after scoring this running volley against Ghana. It was also the first time we ever saw Deuce really shine on the biggest of stages; a trend USMNT fans have gotten comfortably used to. 

9. Rocket vs Amkar Perm

8. World Cup Goal vs England

Of course, Dempsey did need a little help from Robert Green to tie the game up against England at the 2010 World Cup, but this strike finds itself on this list for other reasons. The way Dempsey makes space for himself and gets the shot off is fantastic and it couldn't have come on a bigger stage or better time for the Americans. Plus, the memories it created by itself are enough to give it a spot on this list. 

7. Free Kick vs Bolton

It was the first free kick goal of his professional career and quite an extraordinary one at that. It had enough spin to curve the ball around the wall and enough pace to make sure the keeper couldn't get any more than fingertips on the shot. Simply put, a beauty. 

6. Goal vs Honduras

Dempsey has never been one to perform mesmerizing step overs or elasticos, but he does know how to use some of the simplest tricks effectively as can be seen here. Just a little pull back gave Dempsey enough space to hit the upper-90 winner against Honduras back in December. Is there any other player on the USMNT that is this composed inside the 18? Not right now. 

5. Winner vs Italy

The most recent goal on the list is also one of the most historic as it gave the USMNT its first win over the Azzurri just a few months ago. Dempsey's positioning on this play was fantastic prior to coolly slotting home the game winner past Buffon. I could watch this over and over again. 

4. Goal That Saved Fulham from Relegation

It may not have been the prettiest of goals in his career, but likely the most meaningful he has ever scored. This goal against Liverpool on one of the last days of the Premier League is widely considered as the strike that kept Fulham afloat and safe from relegation in the 2006-07 season. Dempsey more than proved he was worth every single penny that Fulham spent on him just a few months before. 

3. Running Volley vs Brazil

USMNT fans can all remember the incredible feeling when they saw Dempsey score the opening goal in the 2009 Confederations Cup final against Brazil. He only got the slightest of touches on the ball, but that was enough to give the USMNT a stunning lead over the favorites and spark hope that an upset was in the works.

As one of Dempsey's early brilliant strikes in the Premier League, this goal really was the first thing many English fans ever knew about the American. The dipping volley against Stoke still remains one of Deuce's best ever on the international and club level.

In a Europa league match against one of Europe's most prestigious clubs, Dempsey pulled out this stunning chip that truly was one of the best of the tournament. The fact that he hits the chip without seemingly looking up to see where the keeper is just makes the goal so much more incredible. Old, but still the greatest of his still-developing career.
