India Ends Sri Lanka Tour with a Win
India won the T20 international against Sri Lanka.
The Pathan brothers (Irfan and Yusuf) inspired by the Husseys won the match for India.
The match turned out to be a brilliant show-stopper in a series in which we saw many one-sided matches.
The whole tour was an absolute enjoyment for India. Everything went right for the team.
The batting was absolutely brilliant. Yuvraj Singh, who won the Man of the Series award, was a real surprise to me.
Though he has not completely overcome his problem against spin, he definitely has shown improvement which shows he is eager to perform. Something I thought was missing in him for a long time.
Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir also played decent hands. Suresh Raina and Yusuf Pathan were there as required. M S Dhoni as always was there to guide his team in every way possible. Ravindra Jadeja also played a good knock, so what if it was in a losing cause.
The bowling also was pretty decent though it could definitely improve. Zaheer Khan did not get a lot of wickets. Ishant Sharma got wickets but was also erratic.
Pragyan Ojha of course was very good. He will do well under Harbhajan Singh. The part-timers played a crucial part. They were very useful in the middle overs.
But in all of this, I noticed a flaw that people are not seeing. India often converts winning positions into tight ones and then converts the match into a thriller like in the T20. It is something the team has to work on if they want to be No. 1.
But, mistakes often lead to improvement and this means Dhoni has to look for the these mistakes. Once he gets done with them he has to find new ones. The more mistakes we make, the more we IMPROVE and the better we get and it gets worse for Australia and South Africa.
Overall, I think the tour of New Zealand is going to be this team's toughest test so far.
Testing conditions are awaiting them along with a very capable team. I wish India good luck.
