Little Darth Vader Behind Tremendous Super Bowl Ad Faces Heart Surgery

Little Darth Vader is using the force to calm his nerves ahead of an open-heart surgery to correct a congenital defect. 

We all fell in love with the young Max Page who did more than feature in an ad for Volkswagen during the Super Bowl. He pretty much captured the feelings we all shared as little kids when using the force and performing magic were very real possibilities. 

We now have a follow-up to the Super Bowl superstar who made the talk show rounds after his initial stint as Little Darth Vader. 

MSNBC reports on Page and an upcoming heart procedure he was rather nervous about. That is until he harnessed the dark side, via Today.

In the days leading up to the surgery, Page confided to his parents that he was scared for his eighth surgery in seven years and his first-open heart procedure.

A reminder of his famous role helped calm his nerves before he checked into the hospital on Wednesday. “He saw a pair of Darth Vader headsets and he said, 'I want those,’’’ his mother, Jennifer Page, told NBC News. “It really struck me because he's not usually wanting those.

“He said, ‘Cause when I'm Darth, I feel strong.’’’

Yup. That's pretty much all I need to reconsider my loyalties of who is good and evil in the grand world of Star Wars. 

Killed Obi-Wan, served as traitor to the Jedi counsel and made Natalie Portman act poorly through three movies...bad, bad and more bad. 

Helps our young hero get his confidence back...I rather like Darth Vader now. 

As for the procedure, it seems Page's artery that carries the blood between the heart and the lungs is still the same size as one in an infant. 

He must now undergo an open-heart procedure that will take the pulmonary valve from one child and place it into Page's chest. 

The young actor told his mother that he would very much like to concentrate on the possibilities rather than the restrictions, even when recovering in the house, Page's mother states the following via Today. 

“He said, ‘I just want to focus, Mom, let’s talk about what I can do,’ because at first it was everything he was sad he wasn’t going to be able to do, all the plans we had to cancel."

He continues to look on the bright side of things and it's all because of the figure that is famous for turning to the dark side. 

He states simply: "If you use your Force and dream big, you can achieve anything."
