Liverpool Transfer News: Gylfi Sigurdsson Would Be Excellent Addition for Reds
Swansea City's loss will be Liverpool's gain.
Attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson looks poised to join the Reds, following manager Brendan Rodgers to Anfield after it looked like a given he would return to the Wales club. From the Mirror:
"The Iceland international, who made such an impact on loan at the Liberty Stadium last season, has made clear his desire to go to Anfield following the appointment of Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers as the new boss.
The attacking midfielder had all but agreed a permanent £6.8 million move from Hoffenheim to Swansea at the end of the season, but didn’t sign the deal as it became clear Rodgers was being courted by the Merseyside club.

It's a disappointing development for the Swans but a great move for Liverpool. Only 22 years old, Sigurdsson contributed seven goals and three assists in 18 appearances (17 starts) for Swansea last year.
He looks like a truly electric talent—no two ways about that.
A move to Liverpool makes a lot of sense for both sides. Rodgers will already have a good idea of how to best utilize Sigurdsson, making this potentially one of the most underrated but productive transfers of the offseason.
Though Liverpool has obvious talent in the attacking third with forward options in Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, I would expect to see a whole lot of Sigurdsson next season.
The team will need to score more than the disappointing 47 they scored last year if they hope to legitimately challenge for a berth in the Premier League. If he can build upon his fine form at Swansea, Sigurdsson should be able to provide a spark for the Reds' attack.
