5 Vader Matches WWE Fans Want to See
Vader is back. It's been since 2005 since we've seen him in the WWE and since 1998 since we've seen him full time with the company.
At nearly 60 years old, it's clear that this won't be a long, sustained run.
The question is: How does WWE best utilize him? Who does he face during his limited time?
Vader's greatest work was against Ric Flair and Sting, but neither of those guys are walking through that door. After seeing his work against Heath Slater, it's clear that the former WCW Heavyweight Champion has still got it.
With the right matchup, Vader can deliver a brief period of compelling wrestling.
Chris Jericho
1 of 5Pitting these two guys together would be all about pleasing the fans.
Chris Jericho's speed and elusiveness could make for a cat-and-mouse game for much of the match until Vader caught up with Y2J and boxed the sides of his head.
Both the Codebreaker and Walls of Jericho are great finishers that would still work against a man of Vader's size. The two veteran storytellers could put together something memorable even without much buildup.
Though Jericho isn't exactly youthful at this point, he is athletic enough to carry the older Vader and sell the heck out of his power moves.
If Vader is still around when Jericho's suspension/Fozzy tour is over, this would be an ideal matchup.
CM Punk
2 of 5WWE likely has other plans for CM Punk for the next few months, but a detour to face off against Vader would produce a classic.
Punk is one of the finest in-ring storytellers working right now.
His versatility, stellar knee strikes and toughness make him a compelling opponent for Vader. Having Punk survive a beatdown from the big man would further Punk's career.
It'd be an impressive notch on his belt.
Strategically, Punk is at a disadvantage, as he'd be hard pressed to deliver the GTS to Vader. It would be interesting to see how he compensates.
Kane
3 of 5It's been 14 years since Kane and Vader collided in Milwaukee at the first Over the Edge. They've both slowed since then, but the crackling energy their showdown would bring could overcome that.
While there are plenty of superstars on the WWE roster that could give us a quality wrestling match with Vader, few men could deliver a brawl with him like Kane.
The two giants would trade right hands, powerbombs and chokeslams in a confrontation sure to stir up nostalgia.
Before Vader leaves again, it'd be great to see him first revisit his past.
Christian
4 of 5For many of the reasons that Chris Jericho and CM Punk would make great opponents for Vader, Christian would as well.
His high-flying skills, agility and veteran know-how make him capable of putting on a fantastic wrestling match with just about anybody. He and Vader could tell the story of the gutsy warrior hanging in there with the seemingly invincible beast.
Christian's mic skills could make for some highly entertaining promos leading up to the event.
Once the bell rang, the action would surely overflow out of the ring and fans would love to see what the cunning Captain Charisma would devise in order to defeat Vader.
Brock Lesnar
5 of 5WWE likely doesn't want to use up one of Brock Lesnar's contracted appearances on a match with Vader, but it'd produce some fireworks if they did.
Few men can stand toe to toe with Lesnar.
His fists covered in MMA-style gloves, Vader's striking ability makes for an intriguing matchup. Can Lesnar out-punch Vader? Can Vader survive the Kimura Lock?
Two titans, two unrelenting powerful beasts slugging it out—watching them try to outlast and out-bash each other would be well worth the ticket price.
