WWE No Way Out 2012: AJ's Presence Will Destroy WWE Championship Match

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

In a WWE championship match that features great wrestling talent like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, the addition of Kane to the proceedings can only drag it down. Making the whole thing a soap opera involving the psychotic ex-girlfriend of Bryan is going to ruin the entire match.

A.J. has been a fun character to watch on television over the last four months, particularly her interaction with Bryan. Those two have such great chemistry together that they often stole the show on SmackDown.

Yet as this angle has moved along, someone in WWE apparently thought it would be the best idea in the world to make crazy, obsessive A.J. into the focal point of a triple-threat match for the WWE championship.

Just look at what happened on Raw this past Monday night. In an intergender tag match featuring all three participants in the WWE championship match and A.J., the go-home angle was set up as trying to figure out what A.J. was going to do on Sunday.

If WWE wants to run this kind of an angle, make it something that you would find in the opening match or as comedy filler near the end of a pay-per-view when you need a buffer.

To make the point of an angle involving the WWE championship all about who this woman is going to side with or cheat out of the title causes the whole thing to lose credibility. The championship looks inconsequential, though that is nothing new. Punk, who is supposed to be one of the top babyface characters, looks like an idiot for associating with A.J.

The only character whose personality would work with an insane woman is Kane, and if WWE puts the title on him, it would basically be waving the white flag to the fans, saying, "We could care less about this title and what it is supposed to represent."

Of all the things WWE could do this Sunday, forgetting that A.J. even exists for one night, while letting Punk and Bryan do most of the work in the match, would be the best possible option. Let her unleash her crazy on free television Monday night instead of making the people pay $45 to see this stupidity on pay-per-view.
