WWE No Way Out 2012: John Cena Beats Big Show, John Laurinaitis Fired

John Cena is back to his winning ways on pay-per-view after he was able to defeat Big Show in the main event of No Way Out on Sunday night. 

The result is a bit of a surprise, as Cena basically told Big Show on Monday all the reasons he had to win this match, so for WWE to put him in a position where he did not come out on top doesn't make a lot of sense. 

On the other hand, we are talking about Cena, and WWE is going to protect him in any situation, regardless of whether it makes sense for storyline purposes. Show has now lost his last two pay-per-view matches, though the fluky way he lost to Cody Rhodes at Extreme Rules hardly qualifies as a loss in the traditional sense. 

With Big Show losing, John Laurinaitis was effectively fired by Vince McMahon. WWE made the decision to put Johnny Ace's job as general manager of both Raw and SmackDown on the line for this match. Show was his ace in the hole, and now there are a lot of questions that have to be answered on RAW. 

WWE tried to set up Teddy Long as a competent general manager by letting him make a fatal-four way match on Raw because we are supposed to forget the nearly-decade long run of incompetence he has had in various roles with the company. 

As we often wonder when Cena defeats an opponent, you have to wonder what WWE has in store for him next. Returning to the Big Show feud would be the easy play, since Show has been built up like such a monster and to have him just taken out of the main event less than one month into his push makes little sense. 

In the WWE world, though, one month in a big time match with Cena is the equivalent of seven years.
