Pacquiao vs. Bradley Results: Why a Rematch Makes No Sense

Mike MoraitisJun 12, 2012

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley were involved in one of the most controversial decisions in boxing history, and with "Pac-Man" on the losing end, a rematch seems almost inevitable if not now, then sometime down the road.

Shady judging handed Bradley the decision in their first meeting and wrongfully took the welterweight belt from Pacquiao.

At this point, a rematch is a ridiculous thought to say the least. Here's why that fight should never happen.

Nobody Will Watch It

Without a shadow of a doubt, there isn't a soul on this planet who would be eager to spend a boatload of money to watch Pac-Man and "Desert Storm" square off again.

Been there, done that.

Pacquiao already won the fight in the hearts and minds of boxing fans everywhere, leaving no room for debate that Pac-Man is superior to Desert Storm and will beat him time and time again. We spend money on fights because of the relative uncertainty of the outcome; a rematch doesn't fall into the same category.

Even the fight's promoter, Bob Arum, stated why he doesn't believe people will watch this fight again, according to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times.

Writes Pugmire: "Arum said he's heard from some ticket brokers that 'no one wants to come' to a Bradley rematch because most fight watchers considered Pacquiao's effort a one-sided victory."

Duh. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Dream Fight Must Happen ASAP

Before anything else, a fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. must happen. It's time to give the people what they want.

It's the least the sport could do after the most recent debacle.

The clock is ticking on the careers of both fighters, and the longer it takes to make this fight happen, the less quality boxing fans will get from such a bout.

A rematch with Bradley will only delay the fight that people really want to see.

Desert Storm is Inferior

Unless you were one of the judges scoring this fight, it was quite clear Pac-Man is superior to Desert Storm.

There's no shame in that—only legendary boxer Money May can be considered on the same level. Make no mistake about it, this is a two-fighter sport right now that is propped up by Pacquiao and Mayweather.

It's a waste of time having Pacquiao and Bradley fight each other when there is no secret that Bradley doesn't belong in the same ring as Pacquiao.

Viewers will already know the potential outcome of a rematch, taking out the element of surprise a boxing match can bring. That is, of course, unless the rogue judges recreate the travesty that was the initial bout.
