Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley: Much-Needed Rematch Won't Happen

Josh SchochJun 7, 2018

When Timothy Bradley was awarded a split-decision over Manny Pacquiao on Saturday a sense of disbelief swept across the boxing world.

There was absolutely no way that Bradley deserved a victory over Pac-Man in my mind, and knowing that two of the three judges awarded him a 115-113 victory was shocking.

This fight should have been Pacquiao's from the start, and I thought that he clearly easily won seven rounds, if not more. However, only Jerry Roth agreed with me, as both C.J. Ross and Duane Ford gave Bradley the victory.

With all of the controversy surrounding the Bradley's victory you would expect there to be a rematch between the two fighters: but there won't be.

A rematch is completely necessary, as Pac-Man should be allowed to prove that he is the better fighter once and for all. He even had a clause in his contract that reserved him the right to request a rematch if he lost to Bradley, yet we will not see the two fight again in a few months.

However, the controversial finish does not erase the fact that Pacquiao dominated the fight and deserved a victory. As a fan I have to say that I probably would not even watch a rematch between the two because it was clear that Pacquiao won before, and there is no reason to expect that a second fight would have a different outcome.

I can't see a rematch in the future between these two, which leaves three options for Pacquiao. He can try to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. once again, fight Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time or try to find a new opponent.

Despite the controversial finish, don't expect to see these two fighters going at it once again in November, or any time after.
