Why CM Punk vs. John Laurinaitis Feud Is What WWE Fans Really Want

Shane DarrowJun 1, 2018

Monday Night Raw this week is going to be one of the more interesting nights in the past year. The boss himself, Vince McMahon, will be back on Raw in a three-hour special episode. His first order of business? Evaluating the job that John Laurinaitis has done thus far.

My prediction is that McMahon will criticize him and probably even threaten to take away his job unless...well to be honest that unless could be anything. All I know is that in a world where John Cena is going up against Michael Cole and young talent like Ryback is going up against nobodies...some excitement needs to be implemented.

Now I know that CM Punk is already involved in his own feud right now...mainly with Daniel Bryan. But here are some reasons why a Punk versus Laurinaitis feud would be great.

The Cena vs. Laurinaitis feud had potential...but ultimately failed

There were many faults by the WWE in the feud between the two, but just because it didn't work this time, doesn't mean that fans cannot still be intrigued by Laurinaitis' uncanny ability to become a heel. The worst offense was that the end result was just too predictable.

Everyone knew that Cena was going to overmatch Laurinaitis, but someone was going to interfere and he would eventually end up losing. I know 14-year-olds that saw that coming; the creative team really needed to do more than what they did to create unpredictable endings.

Another fault was that the personalities of Cena and Laurinaitis just didn't stack up, and from the beginning of the feud it was fairly obvious that it would never reach the "main event" hope that the WWE wanted.

So how would a Punk versus Laurinaitis feud be better? Well, as Cena has regressed recently as a superstar, Punk has only risen in the minds of fans. He is electric, entertaining and would be great for the idea of a "Superstar vs. Management" type of feud.

He could team up with McMahon

I am honestly going to be very surprised if when McMahon comes on Raw he doesn't just shred the workings of Laurinaitis. He is never a peaceful guy, so why not take out his frustrations by taking the back of the current WWE champion?

It would be an interesting and intriguing partnership that has been rarely seen over the last few years. I know that this idea is a long shot, as the boss probably will not be sticking around for too long, but I would love to see McMahon in the spotlight one more time.

It is the next logical step

I believe that Punk is going to keep his title at No Way Out, as Daniel Bryan hasn't established himself quite yet to hold the belt, and I think that A.J. is going to lure Kane into some sort of trap that will give Punk the victory. But even if he were to fall to either guy, this feud would still make sense.

If he loses, he could plead that he was put in an unfair situation, and instead of taking his vengeance out on whoever now holds the belt, he could take it out on Laurinaitis. If he regains the title, Laurinaitis could honestly take any angle and attack Punk.

The fans love Punk and he is still on the rise. The fans despise Laurinaitis for the most part (as they usually do for any upper management position), and although the WWE recently tried this experiment with John Cena, CM Punk is a better option for this feud.

What do you think WWE fans?
