Euro 2012 Scores: Teams Who Must Make Major Adjustments Going Forward
Another round of matches are complete in the European Championship, and there are teams that have many questions to answer moving forward.
If any of these teams hope to have success in the future, they must make a change.
Here are some clubs that need to make major adjustments moving forward.
Czech Republic
After falling behind 2-0 to Russia, the Czech Republic club had some life after answering with a goal of their own. However, Russia proved to be too much and blew away the Czech Republic with two more goals to win 4-1.
The Czechs were competitive for most of the match but seemed to fold in the later stages. If this club wants to be successful moving forward, they must compete for 90 minutes.
Offensively, the Czech Republic squandered several chances to score. Their play must be more crisp in regards to passing and shooting if they are to score enough goals to win.
Defensively, Russia had an easy time moving the ball down field and into Czech territory. More resistance will be needed if the Czech Republic wants any hope of winning a match.
Portugal
It was a tight match with Germany, but Portugal fell victim to lost opportunities down the stretch of the match and lost 1-0.
Offensively, Portugal must be more aggressive in their later matches. But even when they were aggressive, Portugal couldn't get the ball in the net, most notably before the end of the first half.
Both clubs didn't look so great in the midfield either—a fact that led to the stagnation of both teams' offenses.
Portugal played better than what the score says, but they just came up against a more talented German squad. Their effort today was good enough to beat decent clubs, but if they hope to beat the best, they must make the necessary adjustments.
Netherlands
The Netherlands had a ton of chances to get a goal in this match but were unable to capitalize. To contrast that, Denmark took full advantage of their best chance of the match which proved to be enough to beat the Netherlands.
Finishing seems to be the problem for the Netherlands. They didn't have a problem creating chances the entire match; they just couldn't seem to put the ball in the net.
More crisp passing and more accurate shots will be necessary moving forward if the Netherlands wants to do some damage in this tournament.
