2009 MLB World Series Team Odds: Phillies Are 11-1 Odds To Repeat
With MLB pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training next week, we figured now is a great time to take a look at the baseball betting odds for the 2009 World Series champion. With the high volume of free agent signing's that were made in the off season, it is apparent that every team is willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the 2009 fall classic.
New York Yankees +650
We all know New York has no problem pulling out the checkbook and with the recent signing of C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira, it looks as if the Yankees are trying to buy themselves another World Series title. Sabathia feels the Yanks will give him the best shot at winning a title, and vice versa. It will very interesting to see how the emerging Alex Rodriguez steroid scandal will effect the Yankees odds as we move towards opening day.

10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Chicago Cubs +850
Coming off their 100th consecutive year of not winning a championship, the Chicago Cubs will head into the 2009 season hoping the curse has been lifted. If the Cubs want to turn things around, they need to make some serious adjustments to the weak spots in their lineup, especially in right and center field.
Tampa Bay Rays +1000
Look for the Rays to prove that their World Series appearance was no fluke. With outstanding young players such as James Shields, B.J. Upton and Rookie of the Year Evan Longoria, this team has enough power in the line up to be good for a couple of years. The Rays’ toughest challenge will be getting past the Red Sox and the strong-armed Yankees.
L.A. Dodgers +1400
The Dodgers just might be able to win it all next year - if they can resign Man-Ram. There are several teams participating in the Manny Ramirez sweepstakes but L.A. seems to be willing to shell out the biggest contract. Unless the team makes some major moves, it’s going to be very difficult to win without Manny.
Los Angeles Angels +850
The Angels were the best team in baseball last season but were physically outmatched by the Red Sox in route to an early playoff exit. While the lineup is fierce at bat, the once mighty Angels bullpen will be hurting after losing Francisco Rodriguez to the Mets.
Detroit Tigers +1600
Predicated to score a thousand runs, the Tigers were perhaps the most disappointing team last season. So far, Detroit hasn’t made any major moves to help mend a struggling bullpen that resulted in a last place finish in the AL central. If the Tigers make any serious noise, they’re going to have to get the bats cracking from opening day.
Milwaukee Brewers +2500
We all knew that if Milwaukee didn’t make it to the World Series, getting C.C. Sabathia back on the roster was highly unlikely. The Brewers are questionable at many positions, especially their pitching staff. The loss of Ben Sheets to injury and Sabathia to the free-agent market, may push the Brewers back to the basement of the N.L. Central. Prince Fielder is a feared power hitter fior the Brewers, but without a respectable defense, the Brewers will be hard pressed hit the .500 mark.
Washington Nationals +10000
If you like to pull for the underdog, then Washington is your team. Despite another disappointing record, skipper Manny Acta has much hope for the upcoming season. The Nationals need to get some power on offense as they were near dead last in homeruns. When considering that Joel Hanrahan was the team’s only pitcher with a winning record, it is clear to see that Washington has a lot of rebuilding to do.
