Disgruntled Dallas Cowboy Duane Thomas once said if the Super Bowl is the ultimate game, why do they play it again next year?

Well they do it for the gamblers, Bubba.

For football fans the action never ends. The football futures are up in sports books across the land and bright green sea.

And with the economy still in Hindenburg melt down mode a football bet might have a better chance of success then your 401K.

Who looks like a live long shot? A dark Derby winning horse like the bright red Arizona birds that flew so far this year?

The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are the early favorites but like the horse races toss the short money favorites and take a stab a money making fast dark horse.

Or maybe a purple cloaked roaring Minnesota Viking? A competent quarterback completes the picture if a better believes the Vikes are capable off adding one, Matt Hassleback. Matt Cassel, or Jeff Garcia perhaps, their defense and running game are dangerous.

The NFC is the easier route. No Patriots, Steelers, or Titans to overcome, just a few fading favorites and one Giant to overcome.

Anyone still believe in the Bears? $100 on the the Chicago Bears will get a bettor $4,000. Do you believe in Lovie Smith? All it takes, as the Arizona Cardinals proved, is a lucky playoff run and a hot quarterback.

As for the Bears? I'll pass. The defense is in decline and the offense has no competent QB"s, professional receivers, and a below average offensive line. The team is fading as Lovie's star in the Second City.

But $100 bucks to win $4,000 is tempting.
