WWE News: WWE Funding JBL's Latest Project

Gone Baby GoneJun 6, 2012

Even though he has been out of the ring for several years now, the WWE still has some presence in JBL's life.

According to TMZ.com:

"

JBL has been planning to climb the highest peak on each continent to help raise money for a charity he works with called Family Center -- the group helps needy kids in Bermuda where he lives. JBL was going to pay for the expeditions out of his own pocket until the WWE stepped up to help.

JBL tells TMZ, "The WWE is sponsoring my whole 7 summits trip and will help get the word out across their social media platforms ... all to raise money for the kids program."

45-year old JBL says 100% of the proceeds will go to Family Center -- and he hopes conquering legendary peaks like Everest and Kilimanjaro inspires the kids in Bermuda to know anything is possible.

The WWE sponsorship is key because ... sources close to JBL tell us the epic 2-3 year adventure could cost upwards of $250k. Now JBL says, "All I have to do is not die."

This is a pretty honorable move by the WWE, as they are clearly still vested in some of their former stars. Granted, not every ex-wrestler gets this kind of treatment, but Bradshaw has a pretty good track record with the WWE and left in good terms with the company.

In the end, JBL is one of the few post-wrestling success stories and chances are he is a surefire Hall of Famer. During his WWE tenure, he amassed many a title and a pretty nice fortune. Not only did he make a great payday through wrestling, but he is also pretty savvy on the inner workings of Wall Street and has used it to his advantage.

It's because of this and other outside projects that we may never see JBL back in a WWE ring, unless it's for special appearances.

The "Wrestling God" did an amazing job planning for his future and creating a brand outside of wrestling.

Ultimately, this move not only adds to WWE's charitable donations, it will also help Linda McMahon's run for political office. All of that aside, JBL and the WWE are doing a great thing by joining forces for a worthy cause.
