Summer Transfer Rumours: 5 Transfer Sagas Set to Roll on All Summer
Summer transfer season is upon us, but don't expect all the deals to happen all at once.
As usual, the summer transfer market promises to include a number of sagas that drag on for weeks and months.
Last summer, we saw it with Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal and Barcelona. Who will fit the bill this year?
Read on for five possibilities.
Robin Van Persie
1 of 5Arsenal's Robin van Persie is entering the final year of his contract, and the gossip pages have linked the Dutch striker with a number of high-profile clubs.
Contract negotiations reportedly stalled before Euro 2012, but recently, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said there had been a "good discussion" between club and player.
But Gazidis also said, "at the moment we are not saying anything."
That won't likely change until after Euro 2012.
Luka Modric
2 of 5Luka Modric and Manchester United batted their eyelashes at each all last summer, and now they seem to be at it again.
The stories never seem to end: Modric is considering his future at Tottenham Hotspur, but he won't decide right now.
Maybe the Croatian midfielder will decide after Euro 2012. Or maybe he won't.
Yann M'Vila
3 of 5Arsenal's interest in French midfielder Yann M'Vila is reportedly longstanding.
But that hasn't prompted the Rennes man to rush a decision in any way.
After a long, failed chase last summer, Arsenal will probably have to wait a bit longer. M'Vila has reportedly said he won't decide his future until after Euro 2012.
Edinson Cavani
4 of 5Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has been linked repeatedly, and for a long time, with big-spending Chelsea.
And yet Cavani remains at Napoli. But without a Champions League berth next season, the Italian club might struggle to keep Cavani around.
Chelsea are reportedly still interested, though Liverpool and Real Madrid are also in the picture.
Falcao
5 of 5After leading Porto to the Europa League title in 2011, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao joined Atletico Madrid in a big-money move.
Falcao then led Atletico to the Europa League title in 2012—and found his name right back in the rumor mill.
According to Goal.com, Atletico still owe Porto £23 million on the transfer. The website has also cited sources that claim Atletico will "study offers" for Falcao.
Not surprisingly, Chelsea have been linked with the player.
